We leave the good care of Suzi and Duncan to drive to Sydney. After several weeks in the Australian coutrnyside, coming back to the city is a bit of a shock. We buffer it with a night spend on a highway rest area, rocked by the soft sounds of the trucks rushing by and woken up by the cool truck that leaves its engine on all night long to keep its produce fresh. No comment, we are not going to start there another rant on long supply chains.

After this short night, we dive into the urban trafic. We arrive at Xavier's place, a friend of Tom's 't seen for a pretty long time. He lives in a nice little neighbourhood not far from the sea where we can breathe rather well. Ah, it is still nice to live in a city on the ocean shores ! He kindly welcomes us in his home with his super cute little girls who are wide awake and juggle joyfully between French and English.

The next day we leave for a drive around Sydney. We run into the usual trouble of parking in a big city and finally find a place in the city center. As soon as we are parked, a bird releases himself on my glasses. Nice welcome. Not discouraged though, we do take a little walk around before taking the car again and finding another place to park. We finally settle for a 3h parking space near Pyrmont. Just enough time for us to take a ferry and pass in front of the all-time famous Opera House and the impressive bridge in front of it, eat some fish and chips at Watson Bay and take a small walk in the South Head park.

The inhabitants of this well concreted area are fighting so that others do not come and pour down more concrete taking away what has been left of the sea-side national park. As we are in an electoral campaign time in Australia, we see a well-dressed guy on the beach speaking to journalists, as three curious bystanders take a look. Probably a candidate. 20 min later when we return to the ferry, he is gone. Flash information, the « all in the apperance » kind of style of the politicians, well alright, no comments there too.

We are hurrying otherwise we are going to get a parking ticket. Lucky for us we didn't. Next stop is Manly in order to finish this day beautifully. There we discover an excellent funny sport played on Stand-Up Paddle boards. We have a good laugh watching them, it almost seems like Quidditch actually. They push each other, fall in the water, throw balls and mostly laugh themselves off the boards too.

And that concludes our nice little visit of Sydney and this day which ends in a pretty good gourmet pizza place.
